We hope that you and your families are staying safe, healthy, and positive during these unprecedented times. We are reaching out today to provide an update on our competitive and recreational spring season and our NPSL and WPSL summer season.
Competitive and Recreational Spring Season
In accordance with public health guidance, the Alabama Soccer Association (ASA) has extended the suspension of all sanctioned soccer activities until at least April 15th. This includes all practices, games, clinics, and all other Huntsville FC and North Alabama SC soccer activities and applies to all Jr. Academy, Recreational, and Competitive/State League teams and programs.
ASA has extended D1 and D2 State League through May 3rd and rescheduled the D1 and D2 Spring State Cup to May 15th-17th. We are following the lead of ASA and will extend our competitive and recreational (including Toddler Time) seasons accordingly to ensure the spring season can be completed based on an April 15th start date. More information will be communicated once the schedule changes are finalized.
Tryout and evaluation dates have also been delayed. Tryouts will start on May 18th for 13U and older and evaluations will start on May 25th for 9U-12U. Tryout and evaluation dates will adjust accordingly if the restart of soccer activities and/or the D1 and D2 State Cup dates slip. We will communicate tryout and evaluation registration information separately.
Be sure to follow us on social media. To keep our players active, we are posting a daily Cool Trick Challenge and will follow that with a Weekly Soccer Skills activity.
Note - The Spring Break Camp scheduled for March 31-April 2 has been CANCELED.
Due to the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 and the current league competition structure and schedule, the NPSL has announced the cancelation of the 2020 season.
While we are extremely disappointed that we will not be kicking-off our inaugural NPSL season with you this May as planned, we support and respect the NPSL’s decision as they must balance the needs and safety of all teams in the league.
Quoting Arnold – “We’ll be back!” North Alabama SC is committed to growing the game and providing our North Alabama soccer community with a higher level of competitive soccer. We will continue what we started 9-months ago to ensure a successful inaugural launch for the 2021 NPSL season.
The WPSL has decided to delay the start of the 2020 season to May 29th and cancel the Regional and National Championships. This decision was made to allow for a full regular season and conference championships while still completing the season as scheduled on July 19th.
As of now, our WPSL home opener will be Saturday, May 30th at 5:00 PM vs. the Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves. We are currently working with the Southeast Conference to reschedule our three (3) games affected by the delay and will send out a full schedule announcement once these games are rescheduled.
The WPSL continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will provide another update within the next 30-days.
We are extremely thankful for our strong and supportive soccer community and remain hopeful that we will be able to return to the pitch soon. Our team will continue to monitor the fluid COVID-19 situation and provide updates as they become available.
As our #1 priority remains the safety and health of our soccer community, please continue to do your part to stay safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding,
Huntsville FC and North Alabama SC
